Since first putting needle to record in his home town of Adelaide
in 1991, Heath (aka Athson) has reinvented himself a number
of times; from hardcore, drum & bass, techno, house and
breaks, he has never let himself be confined to any one genre
and it's this diversity that has allowed him to play numerous
clubs and parties over the years. In the mid 90's he hosted
one of Adelaide's leading dance music radio shows, Lunacy as
well as delving into promotions and hosting his own events before
relocating to Sydney in 1998. With an obvious love of all things
musical, 2004 saw him form mash up trio The
Impossibles whilst still playing solo gigs.
On the production side of things, Heath has been producing
tracks, exclusive edits, remixes and mash ups for his sets for
years (under the alias' A-kin, Impact, Digital Pimpz, Downtime
and 1 Man Army) but in 2007 he teamed up with Steve Lind and
things really started to take off. Writing as The
Hump Day Project, the duo have gained success through their
numerous bootlegs and remixes which have featured in the sets
of Utah Saints, Stanton Warriors, Ajax, The Aston Shuffle and
more, plus this has lead on to the release of official remixes
for Sweat It Out, Gulp Communications, Neon Records, No Frills
and Downright Music.
In addition to balancing gigs under his various guises, Heath
helped launch the monthly party Big Trouble in August 2008 at
the Chinese Laundry, plus in 2009 he also started up Troublemakers
Music, a free online music label. With such a full plate, the
year ahead promises to be a busy!
